With the continued news of the far spreading, early implications of Covid-19, it’s just a really tough time. Retail is getting hit, hard. Though I often hear, “It’s just clothes,” I am heartbroken that the hurt economy is crushing down on beloved department stores exponentially.

Many of us have been at the pandemic over a month now. Some longer, and I hope there isn’t many shorter. For any newbies, seriously, #stayhome. Also, mind the two metre gap by leashing your dogs and containing your small kids on community walks, okay?

After you’ve checked in with loved ones, returned extra toilet paper to the authorities, have a few groceries in your home, and washed your hands as thoroughly as Gordon Ramsay, it’s time. It’s time to have some silly fun at home.

My current taste veers more to Run DMC Adidas vibes than say “The O.C.” Juicy Couture. Rihanna’s Fenty for Puma is so good I can feel it in my bones. Beyoncé’s latest Ivy Park drop did not do anything to minimize my coordinated leisure thirst. No, I’m full on into it. Give me a matching suit and I’m delighted AF.

I’ve been in love before. Fast flames, deep friendships, and long-term relationships. That said, I’ve never been in love quite like this before. You make me feel things and I suspect I’m not the only one. You have many admirers.

Ever the people watcher - it’s for the clothes and behaviours darling - I drink in what people are wearing where ever they go; whatever they are up to. Please know that I keep my thoughts internal and don’t spout off in the flesh. It takes some time to marinate what, if any, trends I see.

When I think about business savvy and people getting it done right, I think of Beyoncé. She shows us again and again that her type of product – music, concerts, appearances, and of course fashion – takes an incredible amount of work. She could teach us all a thing or two.

Christmas was – at least in my family – a time to put on your very best dress clothes and celebrate with loved ones around you wearing their very best looks, too. Ruffles, wool, satin, fur, sequins were on the regular. And that’s just what my grandpa wore.

After many years – five to be precise – I have to share something that I’m not proud of. As a loud mouth, arrogant light packer, I’ve relapsed. Yes, this fall as I head on vacations, I’m packing heavier than I ever have before.

Halloween is a wicked good time. Candy, role playing, and costumes. All things that I love and that can also get out of hand. But for one night, how much harm can really be done, right? You’d have to ask my dentist.

We change our clothes a lot. Change for the season, change for a reason, or overhaul the whole ding dong thing. Life happens. Or at the very least, laundry happens. Personal hygiene aside, I got to thinking, are we changing for change sake or are we more deliberate with our changes than it seems from the outside looking in?

Sometimes I feel like I’m right in line with my generation – activism, conscious consumerism, and Coveteur’s ongoing stellar meme game to name a few – and other times I’m left outside, confused, and alone… No matter the couple being celebrated, all over North America we are #squading and spending for our loved ones.
