MORE TO IT
MORE TO IT
It’s rarely just fashion. What about strategy? What about the meaning? What about the person wearing it? See, for me, there’s more to it.
Dig in with me one fabulous blog post at a time.

TMI: My November Blues
After a few busy weeks, things are starting to slow down for me. I can take a breather before it’s nutcrackers again. It’s that calm before the holiday storm state. With that aforementioned feeling of extra time, some of my more hard-to-reconcile thoughts are creeping in. Thanks brain.
Dressing Sexy Does Not Mean ‘You’re Asking For It’
With all off the alleged sexual assault details coming out of Hollywood many people are shocked. The list keeps getting longer. Some have claimed that they didn’t see it happen. Or that it didn’t happen to them. That’s fine. I urge you to believe the ones that say they have been assaulted in some way.
How to Support Las Vegas
In the aftermath of the ruthless terrorist attack on Las Vegas festival fans, it still may be hard to process it. I’m still shook. Las Vegas is a beloved weekend away for me for many years. Las Vegas is fun and carefree. At least it used to be.
F/W 2017: Fall Fashion Trend Report
Fuck trends. That’s my report. Okay, wait a minute. Taking a step back, no I’m not really telling you to stop enjoying looking what’s new out there. I’m not advocating that you stop shopping or caring about how you look. No, no, no.What I am advocating is getting off a crazy train that is fuelled solely by manic, toxic trend coal.
Does Fashion Need to be Different?
We’ve got a problem. It’s so silly for me to say out loud as this problem is not new. Our collective problem is that we keep saving, excusing, and promoting what we know. We are upholding the status quo of the traditional majority. As the latest tragedies surge south of our border a lot of people are asking themselves, “What can I do?”
Rant: Why No Shirt?
Fair warning fashion friends: I’m about to go off. It’s been a long time coming. Since I was a little girl I asked my mother what will I be? Silly Sarah, that’s a song. While I did sing that song with my mom, that is not this post’s point. Here’s the rub: what’s with the not so random no-shirt-in-public dude?
What Would Swimsuits Say If They Could Talk?
After a long weekend mostly outdoors, I spent a majority of the time in a swimsuit. It’s a gals best friend when at the lake. After wearing a fair share that didn’t fit right in my past escapades, there’s nothing quite like a swimsuit that allows you to go about your day without worrying about it. Maybe all the sunblock chemicals went to my head because all I can think about is what our bathing suits would say if they could talk?
Celebrating Post 150: Best of the Blog
This week marks a milestone: 150 fashion and style posts on “More to It.” Encouraging others to confidently express their true selves in what they wear so they can live a big life is my goal, the only goal really. For my clients, and me that means aligning what your wear with who you are (and want to be).Clothing that fits and flatters you is just the start.
Activism in These Critical Times
The last few weeks I have been terrified to check my phone. Usually I love to check out what I’ve missed on Twitter, Instagram, and my favourite blogs since I last double tapped. You know, get a sense of the scoop. That’s no longer the case. I cringe as I await the barrage of terrible, horrific things happening from a state of fear and hate. It seems a bit ridiculous to go about our days – be it in fashion or otherwise – when the world is crashing down all around us.
Why I Cut My Hair
Hair can be such a thing. It can mean a million different things depending on culture, geography, life phase, sex, gender, beliefs; it can go on and on. I get it though. In simplest terms it’s another way to share who you are, how you want to be seen, and what you value. When you actually step back and take a moment to think about it all it’s really a lot to take head on (I couldn’t resist).
Open Letter: Why Are the Retail Stores Pushing Spring on Shoppers in January?
I double-checked my calendar and we officially started December 21. For the past few weeks all your buddies have been telling me – pleading really – to see that it’s almost over. They are saying that we are nearly done. Remember when I told you that I’d be honest with you? You do? Okay then. I’m so confused.
Welcome in 2017 By Celebrating Your Style
Rather than looking back on 2016 with dully-deserved disappointment it may be time to switch gears. 2016 was rough. I’ll, too, save you from the way too sugary sweet and trite #blessed and #grateful posts – though they can be a lovely to take a minute and reflect back with positivity – and get right to what I hope for 2017. I hope there is celebration.
