Growing up in rural Saskatchewan, the TLC show “What Not to Wear” gave high-school-me some solid hope. Someday I could get to a city and turn into the adult I wanted to be who dressed the way I wanted.

Full disclosure: what I’m about to bumble on about could be considered a textbook first world problem. That said, I’ve heard writers say – and movies and books about writing – that one will have the best success in coming across more authentic if you write about what you know.

Holiday preparations have consumed most of the people in my life. I realize not everyone starts as early as I do so I must be kind. There are presents, parties, wrapping, dinners, drinks, and festivities galore. Ho ho ho holy moly it is sensory overload.

Every May, the movie community heads to the French Coast for the Cannes Film Festival. The film elite has been rubbing elbows there for over 70 years. It is one of the best festivals to launch your flick in front of a ravenous and welcome audience. The weather doesn’t hurt either.

We are all waiting… for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Am I right? Of course, the holiday season is too in it’s final surge - like the movie promotions - before the world slows down for a few, quiet and sweet days. But this year it feels different. There’s something special in the air. At the very least it feel different to me. Something is about to wake us up.
